DAY#16.....THE VA WAY...........Sticks and stones................Being a Nurse is a dangerous job when working on a lock down unit. I am not home and I have very limited time to say what I want to say. So here it is in short. Team work is of the essence, especially when a fight breaks out. No there is no politically correct way to put that, the attacker is out for blood period. To combat this danger it is team work that can save your life. However what would you think when a nurse on the floor says to you " Next time a disturbance-fight breaks out, we will not help you" You might ask why is this? simple, the nurse who will be by self is one that reported a illegal/immoral/improper activity. You would think there would be a fail safe method in place to protect the reporting nurse? Nope, not at the VA , yes statements will be taken, but they are crushed/ torn up and the reporting nurse is now a even bigger target. To add to that the upper management goes into defense mode and gives the wink to get rid of the problem. For that there is on staff a specific bully, her job is to destroy the nurse using any means necessary including attempted murder. Go ahead laugh, say " he is over the top" Well this is the reason for these stories, to get someone to investigate, to bring to a judge and under oath have the dozens of medical staff come forward. The reason it doesn't happen is three fold, #1 it's not Veteran's day, no one cares, #2 the VA owns the press and media in my area, # 3 the local politician's ARE COWARDS OR THEY TOO HAVE THEIR HANDS IN THE MISSING FUNDS. Someone prove me wrong, call me out in a court room, no takers? Didn't think so!
