Day # 10....The VA WAY......Oh my GOD!.......It's Sunday, a perfect time to discuss my next subject. Not everything the VA does is sinister, well...But most times when there is a situation that seems wrong or at least it seems to be the VA way is to paint all systems with a BROAD STROKE! And religion is no different. As there are many different Vets, there are many different religions. The hospitals I have been in either as a Nurse, patient, minister, they do attempt to provide the patients with access to a religious service. At the VA there is only one service and that is televised on the VA's in house TV system. Not all vets are the same broad stroke followers of a non-traditional service, on size , type fits all. And please do not give me the idea that these vets are mentally ill and are not religious. That is far from the truth. Most Veterans rely on their higher power, Jesus, Hashem, Buddha etc...For the ones who are not main stream Christians have NO access to their Churches./temples/ mosques/ etc...This is the only day I will not show a corrupt or dishonest situation but again the VA way to fill in the best and easiest cost effective idea to at least show there is a religious system in place. It is bad enough to be stripped of your rights, your identity, your clothes, your families, your ability to communicate in privacy, and now the ability to worship! It is a lose lose situation from the first step into the York VA of Murfreesboro TN. It might be different at other VA'S , but I doubt they are not on the up and up as well....Wait a minute, the NEWS does a good job at reporting the problems when they have a slow news day or it's Veteran's day. Oh, there are Chaplin's available, but that will be a different story on another Sunday.
