Day# 13,,,,,The VA WAY.......Shall we dance?.......................................
To fulfill President Lincoln's promise “To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan” by serving and honoring the men and women who are America’s Veterans........... This worthless statement is the opening for what is supposed to be the VA motto/mission. Like the current administration it is a JOKE! A quiet low key Patent was admitted to our floor in the total violation of our floor policy that ALL patients must be ambulatory, or at least be able to get in and out of their beds on their own power. The most important part of the policy is the Pt, must be medically cleared in order to be on the floor as well. But money/and heads in a bed are more important and the policies are often not enforced to make way for GREED! To add to this improper lose interpretation and to insure there will be NO back talk from the medical staff when a situation arises both the patient who is most unable to reject his admittance and demand MEDICAL TREATMENT instead of being placed on a mental floor due to delirium/Inability to express his needs and dare say if a medical staff speaks up as an advocate, that advocate will be threatened with harsh repercussions so bad they could be transferred to the KITCHEN. I understand if I write a story too long no one will read it. But this one and tomorrows post MUST be told. This particular Patient had a horrible infection in his toes and foot. The smell was ungodly, he was transported in house to the podiatrist where nothing was done for him. That night he had a elevated temp and when an assessment was done it was determined he was septic and his infection was worsening. If it wasn't for the staff insistence and not caring about getting in trouble, two nurses went to battle which almost came to fist and cuffs with a muslim resident Doctor to send him out to Nashville for treatment. He was finally transferred.The next day we found out they had to take his leg. This is what goes on at the VA and I am sure in every VA in the system. But as usual, nobody cares no body will lift a finger to help, and all I am doing is digging a hole for them to bury me in or worse. Remember they are part of the government and with that, they have the ability to make people disappear, But in my case they took my livelihood what else is there left for me and the other Vets who suffer this kind of horror day after day. . .
